Each bank formats its CSV differently. Saved mappings remember the column layout and date format so you do not have to set them up every time you import.
Creating a mapping
During the import wizard, after mapping your columns, tick "Save this mapping" and enter a name. Good names include the bank and account type, e.g. "FNB Cheque", "Nedbank Savings", or "Investec Business".
Using a saved mapping
On the next import, select your saved mapping from the "Saved mapping" dropdown. The column assignments and date format are filled in automatically. You can still adjust them if the bank changed their format.
Common South African bank formats
| Bank | Date format | Amount style | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| FNB | DD/MM/YYYY | Split (debit/credit) | Usually has 1-2 junk rows at top |
| Standard Bank | DD/MM/YYYY | Single amount | Negative = debit |
| Nedbank | YYYY-MM-DD | Single amount | Clean header, no junk rows |
| ABSA | DD/MM/YYYY | Split (debit/credit) | May have junk rows |
| Capitec | YYYY/MM/DD | Split (debit/credit) | Usually clean |
| Investec | YYYY/MM/DD | Split (debit/credit) | May have metadata rows |
Tip
If your bank is not listed, you can still import — just map the columns manually. The formats above are guidelines; your specific account may differ.
