A delivery note is a document that accompanies goods or services when they are delivered to a client. It confirms what was dispatched, in what quantities, and when. Rebill lets you create delivery notes linked to invoices or as standalone documents.
What a delivery note contains
A Rebill delivery note includes:
- Your business name, logo, and contact details
- The client's name and address
- A delivery note number (e.g. DN-001)
- The date of delivery
- A list of items delivered with descriptions and quantities
- A reference to the linked invoice (if applicable)
Delivery notes vs invoices
A delivery note and an invoice serve different purposes:
- Delivery note: Confirms goods were dispatched. Contains quantities but not prices. The client signs this as proof of receipt.
- Invoice: Requests payment. Contains prices, totals, VAT, and payment terms.
In most workflows, the delivery note travels with the goods and the invoice follows once delivery is confirmed.
Linked delivery notes
When you create a delivery note from an invoice, Rebill links the two documents together. You can navigate between them from either page, making it easy to track the full lifecycle of an order. When to use a delivery note
Use a delivery note when:
- You deliver physical goods to a client and need written confirmation of receipt
- You are making a partial delivery (only some items on the invoice are being dispatched now)
- Your client or their logistics team requires a signed delivery document
- You dispatch goods before the invoice is issued
Premium feature
Delivery notes are available on the Rebill Premium plan. Free plan users can create delivery notes but sending via email or WhatsApp requires Premium.
